What every session includes
Every corporate headshot session is designed to give you images you can use right away, across all your professional platforms.
Individual sessions
A basic session is $350 for 30 minutes in the studio, with multiple background options and 3 final retouched images: enough for LinkedIn, your company website, press materials and a backup for later. You review images on a workstation monitor as we shoot, so you can see what is working.
Professional retouching
Retouching that enhances without overdoing it. I correct temporary blemishes, even out skin tones and make subtle adjustments so you look your best while still looking like yourself. The goal is “polished professional,” not “obvious Photoshop.”
Multiple setups
Even in a 30 minute session we typically shoot 2 to 3 setups. A clean white background for LinkedIn, a darker option for your website, a more casual pose for internal communications. One session covers them all.
Team photography
Consistent lighting and style across every person, so your About Us page looks like one cohesive team. I can photograph 8 to 12 people per hour depending on complexity, which makes a company-wide update a single session. Group rates slide down with headcount and can be as low as $100 per person for larger teams.
File delivery
High resolution files suitable for print, plus web-optimized versions sized for LinkedIn, email signatures and social media, delivered through a private online gallery within 3 to 5 business days, often sooner.

The process
- Booking and prep. Tell me what you need: individual or team session, preferred location, timeline and any specific requirements. I will confirm availability and answer any questions. The prep tips below cover wardrobe, grooming and what to expect.
- Session day. At my Vista studio, parking is right at the door and there is a client area to check your appearance before we start. On location, I arrive early to set up studio quality lighting. We start with a few test shots, then I direct posture, expression and where to look. You review images on a monitor throughout, so you know exactly what you are getting.
- Image selection. Within 48 hours you receive an online proofing gallery with every usable image. Pick your favorites for retouching, or ask for my recommendations. In a hurry? Some people choose on the spot.
- Final delivery. Retouched images arrive within 3 to 5 business days, in high resolution and web-optimized versions. Rush delivery is available, just mention it when booking.
Most clients book 1 to 2 weeks ahead, though shorter notice often works. Team sessions for larger groups should be scheduled 2 to 3 weeks out.
How to prepare for your headshot
A few simple steps before your session make a big difference in the final images.
Know where it will be used
LinkedIn likes tight, simple, circular crops. Other websites allow something more zoomed out and natural. Modeling agencies want close-ups in clean natural light. In San Diego, “headshot” can mean anything from a tight head and shoulders crop to a relaxed lifestyle candid or a full length portrait.
Tell me how and where your headshots will be used before the session. It decides vertical or horizontal, background, framing and depth of field. If your photo will sit next to text on a website or slide, I will leave room for it.
What to wear
I almost always recommend solid color tops. Patterns, stripes and checks can cause moire patterns when their lines align with the pixels in a digital image, and they distract from the main subject: you. Go with simple necklines, minimal jewelry and clothes that fit well. Bring a few tops so we can see which works best with your eye color and complexion.
Makeup and hair
Professional cameras and lighting pick up a lot of detail, so it is usually a good idea to wear a bit more foundation than normal, or bring powder to control shine. For a polished look, book professional hair and makeup for your session. My first call is Cindy Rankin, a San Diego makeup artist with more than 25 years on film, television and commercial sets, and a regular collaborator in my studio. Ask when booking and I will add her to your session. Bring some basic hair care items too, since stray hairs show up more on camera than in real life.
Posing
Posing for headshots is simpler than most people expect. A good photographer is equal parts coach, comedian and lighting tech, and will guide you into flattering poses. Don’t waste time stressing or practicing in the mirror, I have tricks!
Studio or on location
The Vista studio
My photography studio is in Vista, in the heart of North County San Diego. The 1,200 square foot space has a 19 foot seamless white backdrop, professional Profoto lighting, a client lounge and a changing area. For straightforward corporate headshots, the studio offers controlled conditions and consistent results regardless of weather or time of day.
At your office
Not every headshot needs to happen in a studio. I bring portable professional lighting to offices throughout San Diego County: downtown San Diego, La Jolla, Carlsbad, Encinitas, Del Mar, Rancho Santa Fe, Escondido and everywhere in between. On-location sessions work well for companies that want to photograph employees during the workday with minimal disruption, or for executives who prefer an environmental portrait in their actual workspace.
No travel fees anywhere in San Diego County. Outside the county, ask for a custom quote.

How much does a corporate headshot cost in San Diego?
A basic individual session at my Vista studio starts at $350. That includes 30 minutes of shooting, a choice of backgrounds and 3 final retouched images. Extra retouched images, on-location sessions and larger productions are quoted per job.
What do team headshots cost?
Group rates slide down as the headcount goes up. Larger teams can be as low as $100 per person, and high volume sessions go lower still. Send me the number of people and whether it is studio or on-site, and you will have a quote within one business day.
Will I see the photos during the session?
Yes. Every session, individual or team, includes viewing on a workstation monitor as we shoot. We adjust posture, expression and lighting on the spot, so you leave knowing you have a headshot you like.
How long does a headshot session take?
A basic individual session is 30 minutes. Allow 45 minutes if you want a wardrobe change or several setups. For teams I photograph 8 to 12 people per hour, so most company-wide updates fit into a single morning or afternoon.
How many images do I get, and how fast?
The basic session includes 3 retouched images. A proofing gallery with every usable frame arrives within 48 hours, and retouched files are delivered within 3 to 5 business days in high resolution and web-ready sizes. Rush delivery is available.
Do you photograph headshots at our office?
Yes. I bring studio quality lighting and a portable backdrop to offices anywhere in San Diego County, from downtown to Carlsbad and Escondido, with no travel fees inside the county.
